R E L A X E D // Merry Christmas!! This is pretty much all of the holiday decor that I could muster this year. Aside from the tree, which I let the girls have at without my usual supervision, these candlesticks are it. I just was not up to it this year and giving myself permission to opt out was liberating.

Gifts are opened and I’m currently on the sofa watching cheesy Christmas movies with my family sipping champagne & snacking on everything I see and I’ll probably still be here for the better part of the weekend but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So Happy Holidays and here’s to giving yourself grace and enjoying this season exactly the way you want to. 🤎🤎🤎

N O R U L E S // Own the environment you want to create because perfection is an unattainable goal. Your table, your home, your gatherings, they don’t have to be polished. They just have to be intentional.

My flowers are usually from Trader Joe’s or the neighborhood bodega. The carrots and peppers I used had been sitting in my refrigerator for over a week. I literally lit the candles in this video with a birthday candle I dug out of the junk drawer because matches were nowhere to be found and guess what? Everything was fine. We had a great time laughing and talking over dinner.

At the end of the day, if thoughtfulness and intention are your starting points you absolutely cannot go wrong.

H O S T I N G S E A S O N // I’ve been online most of the weekend in search of inspiration for some upcoming projects and get togethers I’m hosting and I came across some old tablescapes in my camera roll, which made me smile.

I grew up in a family of hosts. I remember being a little kid in my pajamas, sneaking out of bed with my sisters to sit on the stairs and watch my parents host house parties and dinners, laughing and dancing with their families and friends.

My desire to create safe spaces for and celebrate the people I love in a beautiful and thoughtful way, the way my parents used to, is part of my DNA and I can’t wait to create new memories fueled by that inspiration.

The joyful things do look different for me from day today, but it’s important for me to have something. This week it was making sure that we had flowers all over the house. We haven’t had any since returning from vacation last month, and it seems like such a small thing, but now we have flowers everywhere and I can feel the difference. B R U N C H I N G // Our Christmas day is usually spent in pjs, lounging around the house, watching movies and snacking. But, we do host an annual weekend before Christmas brunch that gives us a chance to get dressed and entertain a few guests.

This year, I wanted to design something pretty and romantic built around my favorite new dinnerware set but it was the morning snowfall that created the perfect backdrop and truly set the mood.

B R U N C H I N G // Our Christmas day is usually spent in pjs, lounging around the house, watching movies and snacking. But, we do host an annual weekend before Christmas brunch that gives us a chance to get dressed and entertain a few guests.

This year, I wanted to design something pretty and romantic built around my favorite new dinnerware set but it was the morning snowfall that created the perfect backdrop and truly set the mood.

To be transparent, I love the holiday season and all of the social activities that go along with it, However, my enthusiasm for Christmas decorating has always been pretty low. As much as I love design, I almost never decorated for myself as an adult and my girls are the only reason that I started.

However, I find that if you aren’t huge on holiday decor, but still want a nice little vignette reminiscent of the holiday season, you cannot go wrong with pairing a few natural green stems or branches with a candle(s) and a cozy throw. Minimal effort. Maximum impact.

I’m partial to Magnolia leaves this time of year, but I was inspired to create something a little more emotional when I saw these hydrangeas. I let them dry for a few days to create a slightly rustic feel that contrasts the delicate, polished appeal of the marble. I find that a simple, thoughtful arrangement can easily bring life into your home - literally and figuratively.

T H O U G H T S // I put myself on a very specific timeline to complete renovating my home. Rehabilitating a turn of the century home was never going to be easy but of course I expected that this would be the exception. Looking back now, I was unrealistic and when things started happening in the process that were completely out of my control I got discouraged. So I decided to take a beat and reevaluate my intentions. I 100% believe that creating a home takes time, so, why was I rushing to get it done? Why was I holding myself to such unrealistic expectations? Lots of questions that would not be answered in the midst of the chaos, so, I stopped everything. I put a pin in it all - no planning, no shopping, nothing….just living here, in gratitude and waiting for my home to let me know when it was ready for us to finish what we started, together and at our own pace. Life comes at you fast, but there’s always the option to slow down, reevaluate, and when the time comes, press on with a new direction, new ideas and new intentions. So, today I say onward! 💕 #tkthome #brooklynbrownstone

This #40scolonial was one of my first pandemic era projects and as a fixer upper, there were lots of technical issues to solve for. We poured over tons of ideas and in the end, we designed a home that married the inspiration with the lifestyle and realistic needs of the homeowner seamlessly. Designing your home to be a reflection of you should always be the priority.

As a creative, I love a good mood board bc it allows me to arrange small pieces in the right way to tell a larger, more emotional story. I know that video is the big push, but thinking of bringing flatlays back to my feed from time to time bc capturing beautiful, static moments will never be out of style.
